πŸ”Report on the event

Four rapporteurs representing SEEEDS project partners presented civil society recommendations that had emerged from the four SEEEDS webinars. The face-to-face event was an ideal opportunity for an in-depth exchange of information on a wide range of electoral issues.

The Civil Society Recommendation paper was presented to various EU policymakers, as a joint contribution of civil society to strengthening the electoral integrity of the European Parliament 2024 elections.

Practitioners had the opportunity to learn first-hand from policymakers about their priorities and concerns, while policymakers in turn benefited from detailed insights into legislative assessments and the experiences of civil society and election observers on the ground.

It resulted in a better and more informed understanding of the challenges and opportunities that different groups of stakeholders face ahead of the 2024 elections. The face-to-face nature of the event also provided an opportunity for networking and helped to forge closer contacts between policy-makers, civil society organisations and election observers in the run-up to the elections.

This event engaged a transnational European network of citizens active on electoral and democracy issues in a public outreach campaign on voter mobilisation and civic education to improve the political participation of EU citizens, including and primarily women and the voters from underrepresented groups.

This was a useful event to better link EU policymakers with civil society to deal with electoral rights ahead of the EP elections and helps to build stronger relations between policymakers and transnational active citizens for the future.
